Prof (Dr.) Arhan Sthapit

Professor (Dr) Arhan Sthapit is the Dean of School of Management and law at Nepal Open University in Kathmandu. He is a management practitioner turned academician. He assumed the role of Professor of Management at Nepal Open University on May 15, 2019. Prior to this, he had served Tribhuvan University for eight years, starting from January 5, 2012. 

Dr. Sthapit’s educational journey encompassed Management, Mass Communication (Journalism), and Global Trade and Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) studies in Nepal, India, and the USA. He earned his PhD in Management with a focus on Strategic Human Resources from Jodhpur National University, Rajasthan, India, in 2014. With 23 years of industry experience, Dr. Sthapit brings a wealth of practical knowledge to his academic role. He spent 6.5 years at NABIL Bank and Nepal Bangladesh Bank in low and mid-management positions. Additionally, he worked for 11 months with GIZ (German International Cooperation) and 15 years at The Rising Nepal English daily, a publication of the Nepal Government, where he held the position of Senior Associate Editor before resigning.

Throughout his career, Dr. Sthapit has successfully completed numerous consultancy projects in the fields of management and communication for supranational, multilateral, and national organizations. In his academic capacity, he is well-regarded for teaching International Business, Strategic Human Resource Management, Strategic Management, and Global Marketing/Trade. He is also certified in case-based teaching, holding a Harvard University-IIMA certification earned in 2016.

Dr. Sthapit is a prolific researcher, holding an international research author ID (ORCID iD 0000-0002-2799-4936). He has authored over three dozen research papers published in peer-reviewed and refereed journals of international repute, along with eight textbooks and approximately 1,725 general articles covering various management and topical issues. He is actively involved in editing 11 peer-reviewed journals published in different countries and has served as a Keynote Speaker at seven international conferences and 12 webinars hosted in various nations.

Dr. Sthapit’s consultancy expertise has benefitted a range of organizations, both supranational and national, and he has served as a resource person in such entities, as well as in training institutes and universities in Nepal and abroad.
