Papers: Eligibility and Submissions
The organizing committee encourages submissions from:
- All interested scholars, regardless of their geographic location.
- Both PhD and non-PhD scholars (post-docs, research fellows, professors, etc.) in any stage of their academic careers.
- Scholars from Nepal, the South Asian region, other Asia-Pacific countries, and the rest of the world.
To submit an abstract
Interested scholars are invited to submit a CV and an abstract of no more than 500 words by October 21 to sol_conf@ku.edu.np. Please use “Call for Papers – Federalism, Devolution of Power, and Inclusive Democracy in Nepal and Asia” as the subject line of your email. Abstracts and papers must be aligned with the conference’s overarching theme. They can explore theoretical aspects of the aforementioned questions and focus on any region, country, or combination of countries. Abstracts should be submitted in English only.
Applicants will receive notifications by October 30, 2023.
Full drafts of papers must be submitted in English no later than November 10, 2023. Papers should not exceed 5000 -10,000 words, including footnotes.
Conference language
The conference language will be in Nepali and English.
Publication
Papers presented at the conference will be considered for publication in an edited volume.
Registration, travel and accommodation
There is no direct cost to present a paper and participate in the conference. Funding will be available to cover some participants’ travel and accommodation costs, especially from the South Asian and Asia-pacific countries, according to the conference rules. Participants who wish to do so may apply for funding. Funding will be allocated on a needs basis. In any case, funding is not guaranteed.
In the case of us receiving more requests/research papers than can be met from our budget, selection will be made by the organizing committee based on the strength of the abstract and the accommodation and travel cost to present the papers will be covered.
Conference venue
The conference will be organized in Kathmandu and will take place at the Malla Hotel in Lainchaur. The hotel is within walking distance from the tourist hub of Kathmandu, Thamel.
